American beauty

American beauty Samantha Nicola and Lee Anthony Webb tied the knot on Saturday 17th September, 2011 in Bedford

Where did the wedding take place?

After meeting while I was a professional dancer and Lee a musical director in the USA and touring around the Caribbean you’d have thought we’d have married on a far-flung beach. However, we couldn’t imagine not having a UK ceremony surrounded by family and friends, so we exchanged vows at St George of England Church in Toddington, followed by a reception at Barns Hotel, Bedford.

What did the bridal party wear?

I wore an ivory, strapless gown with small train bought from Vanilla Bridal in Newport Pagnall, to which I had added an intricate belt by Pronovias. My Kurt Geiger shoes added some extra sparkle.

Lee wore a black three-quarter-length jacket with tails, pinstripe trousers, ivory waistcoat, red tie and buttonhole to match the bridesmaids’ gowns, which were from Coast.

What was the wedding day theme?

We had a traditional style wedding with the colour red running throughout, such as the chair back ribbon and roses in my bouquet and the grooms men’s buttonholes.

What were the highlights?

Lee used to be a member of our wedding band, The Alibi, so he couldn’t escape from playing a few songs.

One of our maids of honour surprised us with a set of Chinese Lanterns, which guests attached messages to before lighting and releasing into the night air.

The best man’s speech didn’t disappoint and even managed to feature some highly embarrassing photos of the groom from childhood!

How did it end?

Many guests stayed at the venue, so the party continued long into the night. We all had breakfast together the following morning before we drove off in our car, which had been smuggled to the venue and decorated with ridiculous amounts of silly string, balloons and tin cans!  We honeymooned in Jebel Ali Resort & Spa, Dubai for 10 days in glorious 40-degree sunshine.
