Pebble’s Wedding of the Year

Pebble’s Wedding of the Year is fast approaching and with just over 2 months till The Big Day.

Many of you will know that Michaela, who has been part of the team at Pebble for 7 short years, is getting wed to her childhood sweetheart Jermaine.  It was time to catch up with Michaela to see how the wedding plans are progressing.

So, when and where is the wedding?

The wedding is the 24th June at St. Ippolyts Church and we will be going on to Letchworth Hall Hotel for the reception afterwards.

I presume you’ve got your dress, hair and makeup all sorted?

Yes, I’ve got my dress and had a few fittings so far. I’m using MAC makeup and I’m lucky that one of my bridesmaids who is also a beauty therapist will kindly be doing my makeup for me – but I haven’t had a trial as yet! Another lovely friend, Grace Tower, who works at Number 39 Hair in Ickleford, will be doing my hair for me. We’ve had lots of trials and we’ve decided on the perfect style!

That sounds lovely! Why have you decided to use MAC makeup?

Out of all the makeup products, I think that MAC is the most natural looking on my skin whilst providing the coverage that I like. It’s a brand that I trust as I did my friends makeup for her wedding last April and she loved the products even though she hadn’t used MAC before - it literally lasted the whole day! One of the best products to keep you looking beautiful throughout your big day is the Prep and Prime Primer.

What steps are you taking to prepare your skin in the build up to the wedding?

As every Bride-to-be knows, drinking water regularly throughout the day is one of the most important steps to keep your skin hydrated.

I’m also having a course of Thalgo Hydra Marine Ritual Facials, which improves the complexion of the skin and makes the texture smooth, plump and radiant – I’m just about to have my fourth and I am already noticing a difference in my skin.

From May, the plan is to have the Thalgo Eye Touch treatment every two weeks.

Even though the result is an instant rejuvenation of the eye contour area, a course of treatments has a really good effect on puffiness, fine-lines and dark circles.

As part of my new healthy eating plan, I’ve been eating lots of blueberries everyday, as they are an antioxidant that will improve your skin drastically.

So the all-important question for any Bride-to-be, have you decided on a nail colour for your hands and feet yet?

Your hands are so important because everyone will want to see the rings! It has been hard to decide, as I think everyone expects Brides to have a French finish or a pale colour. Personally, I dislike these styles on my nails, so I’ve been trying to think outside of the box by experimenting with different colours and styles on my nails. I’m yet to make a decision because of the wide variety of colours available at Pebble. As a beauty therapist, I would recommend trying various styles and colours for your hands before the wedding to give you different ideas. Gel over your natural length will help to protect your nails so having numerous treatments prior to the wedding will enable them to grow to a length you desire.

For anyone who didn’t already know, I like my toes to match my nails! Whatever I have on my hands I will have on my feet. I’m really looking forward to having my feet done the day before the wedding as there’s nothing more relaxing than a pedicure – it will be fun to be the client for the day with my mum, bridesmaids and future mother-in-law.

What other treatments are you having to prepare for the big day?

Eyebrows are one of the most important things to me, especially since doing the HD Brows course.

I’ll be having HD Brows for the wedding. If you’re not aware of them, it’s a unique formula to create a bespoke brow to suit the clients face.

I would recommend having HD Brows a couple of times before the wedding to really define your brows for your face shape.

To give you an idea of the transformation that can be achieved, here are some before and after photographs, which show fantastic results. But not just for the Bride, for the Groom too!

I have chosen waxing for my choice of hair removal for the wedding, as it will leave a smooth finish. I’ve been having this treatment for a long time so I would recommend waxing on a regular basis (usually every 4-6 weeks) to help thin the hairs. This way, it will last longer.

Over the years I’ve tried different eyelash treatments including LVLs and Lash Perfect Eyelash extensions. I have made a decision to have lash extensions because I like the full effect that they give, which will be noticeable in my wedding photos whilst also looking really natural. Again, I would suggest trying any treatment like this a few months prior to the wedding to get your desired look.

And will there be any grooming the groom?

Jermaine and I have been together for 10 years, which was just before I started training as a beauty therapist. He has been my model a few times in the past and has had to listen to me talk non-stop beauty, so it’s fair to say he is quite aware of the importance of male grooming! In more recent years, he has let me do his nails, eyebrows and mini facials (he’s going to kill me if he’s reading this!).

Feet are a no-go area for Jermaine but I’ve persuaded him to have a pedicure for the wedding. He’s going to come in to Pebble for a course of facials and again with all the groomsmen for manicures and pedicures. Male grooming is now considered routine because gone are the days that men are embarrassed to have treatments in a salon. The new interior design at Pebble has created a very comfortable environment for the metro male.

You mentioned you’d be spending the day before the wedding with your bridesmaids and the mums – what’s the plan?

Over the years working at Pebble, I have seen many Brides and their entourage come in the day before their wedding with lots of champagne and nibbles, having their manicures, pedicures and essential pre-wedding time out, and now it’s my turn! This will give me the perfect opportunity to assist the bridesmaids to pick a colour (not that I will give them the choice).

Well, you sound like you’ve got everything in order! We’re all extremely excited for The Pebble’s Wedding of the Year and to see you walk down the aisle Michaela.

If you’re interested in any of the treatments mentioned, you can book them online or download the Pebble Sanctuary app available for iOS and Android.
