Katie & Steven
Katie and Steve were married on the 2nd October 2015 at Ely Cathedral and held their reception at The Old Hall, Ely
Steve was a pupil at Kings Ely School so we were lucky to be able to get married at Ely Cathedral.
It has the fourth longest aisle in Europe yet the altar is very intimate, with everyone facing inwards.
It is quite a spectacular venue.
On the day Steve and his groomsmen climbed the hundreds of steps to the West tower to have photos at the top!
To match the stunning location of The Old Hall, Ely we wanted a classic elegant yet contemporary look so we chose a white, cream and grey colour scheme with mirror table pieces and candles everywhere!
We added personal touches with a Mr and Mrs photo display of our sisters, parents and grandparents on their wedding day; all of whom are still together which is rare today!
As an ice-breaker we made a booklet for our guests of how we know them, memories and comments, set out in the table plan so everyone could see who each other were.
It was a wonderful day full of little surprises.
I received a new number plate and Steve got a Mulberry briefcase.
The speeches from the three best men were hilarious - a lot of people have said they are the best they have heard.
Our music kept the dance floor packed from Matt Strafford Duo Wedding Band, our first dance ‘Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri to lots of Fleetwood Mac. We both ended up crowd surfing!
My friend Jess got up and sang a few songs with the band.
Andy Fountain, our photographer, was brilliant!
He got to know everyone and was good fun but efficient and didn’t waste our time.
We had planned the structure with Andy but he was very flexible if certain parts over ran.
