My One & Only

Katie married Captain Dave Webster in the stunning Grand Hall of Ashridge House on the 10th August 2013

Whilst visiting Katie's Dad in Dubai, Dave proposed. 'The sun was setting,' Katie explained, 'and I was showing Dave a special place behind my old house when he got down on one knee!

That night we went for dinner at the One & Only Royal Mirage, when the manager found out he gave us our own private Arabic tent on the beach with rose petals covering the table!'

Katie wore an elegant lace dress which was similar to her Mum's dress.

'It was completely love at first sight,' recalls Katie. 'I went to Satin Bow Bridal in St Albans and the service was amazing.  My dress was called Daisy by Shanna Melville.'

As Dave is a Captain and an Ammunition Technical Officer in the Royal Logistic Corps,  he wore his No.1 Ceremonial Uniform with sword. To match the colour of the officer's sashes the bridesmaids wore claret dresses. Dave’s Best Man and Guard of Honour all wore No.1 Ceremonial Uniforms, which varied slightly with their respective ranks and roles in the Army.

With a military presence the ceremony  was  formal but Katie is a primary school teacher so the reception was decidedly more school-themed!

The seating plan was written on a blackboard and the children from Katie's old class had all drawn pictures and written what they thought made a good husband or wife with their definition of love.

Other personal touches included lawn croquet and giant tennis; on the tables there were Connect 4 and Spot-the-Difference.  The couple hired a retro photo booth provided by Retro-Me.

'Lyndsey Challis did our photography,' enthused Katie, 'and she was AMAZING!  She’s so funny and personable and she directed everyone perfectly for the photos.'
