Hayley & Richard

Hayley and Richard tied the knot on the 20th December, 2015 at St Mary’s Church, Peterborough and celebrated at The Bull Hotel

Being church-goers we personalised our service by writing our own vows, one of the readings and Richard even wrote a poem which was read by my brother.

Instead of hymns we had our favourite Christmas carols.

I purchased my dress from Maison de la Bride, who were brilliant. I loved every dress in there.

I took my mum, dad and Richard dress shopping and they all agreed on two dresses ( so Richard did get to see the gown before the day) but he didn’t know which I went back to buy; Valentine by Ronald Joyce.

As we met two weeks before Christmas and I love all things Christmassy, it seemed appropriate to get married during the festive season.

I wanted a warm, cosy English Christmas atmosphere but with a twist! The Bull Hotel has a beautiful rustic and regal look to it, steeped in history and culture.

It had ten Christmas trees dotted around the Hotel and we followed the theme with ivy draped candelabra table centre pieces and cracker favours.

Our table plan was based on the Twelve Days of Christmas with each table being named after something we (our true loves) had given one another over the years.  Table one, for example, was ‘1 lovingly made cup of tea each morning’.

My bouquet held a piece of my late grandmother’s veil within it, so there was a piece of her with us on the day.

I also had mistletoe in my bouquet so I hung it up in the venue instead of throwing it. Our guests could then kiss underneath it!

Our cake suppliers (who shall remain nameless) accidentally tripped up bringing the cake in and dropped it but the staff at The Bull Hotel managed to salvage the situation; amazingly, it looked almost perfect and still tasted delicious! It will be a funny story for years to come, we’re sure!

We didn’t want the same old wedding photographs we always saw; we wanted magical artwork and Ayesha Khalid’s photography stood out a mile to us.

Ayesha has a good eye for capturing real emotions and she created some stunning images for us to treasure forever.
